Welcome to Emmaus Road School. This is a unique school. All of the courses are available over WhatsApp. They consist of homework assignments, lecture videos, a short quiz, and discussion with the instructor over the material covered in the lesson.
The first course for all students is called An Introduction to the Bible. It consists of 8 lessons covering principles of Bible study, the canon of Scripture, Biblical manuscripts, and a guide to understanding and using Bible translations. These classes are completely free and when you are finished you will receive a certificate and have access to the next course.
The second course is called The Inductive Bible Study Method. It is 26 lessons and thoroughly instructs students in a systematic method for observing, interpreting, and applying the Bible for themselves. It also features classes discussing the role of the Holy Spirit and prayer in Bible study. After the second course students will have access to the complete course catalogue which currently offers eight classes on various New Testament books and will eventually cover every book of the Bible. New courses will be published regularly throughout the year. The courses through books of the Bible guide students on a personal journey through the complete text of a book of the Bible and work through the most challenging issues related to the teaching of each book using the inductive Bible study method.
The content of these studies is not denominationally or theologically oriented. Any student is welcome and all students will have the opportunity to discover the meaning of Scripture directly. The instructor’s role is primarily to help teach a method for studying the Bible rather than simply telling the student what the Bible teaches.
Course work is self paced. There are no deadlines. Students can take as much time as needed, although the classes are designed so that 20 minutes a day, three to four days a week should be sufficient for homework.
Every class is carried out over WhatsApp. There is no program like this anywhere else. It is unmatched in its affordability, accessibility, and quality. There is no cost or obligation connected to the first course, but if a student proceeds with the school and completes all courses, he or she will not only receive a master certificate, but will have a better knowledge of the content of Scripture than most graduates of a Masters of Divinity program at a major seminary.
